25th anniversary of Horizon company also 25th anniversary of partnership with MAN

June 29, 2012 saw the 25th anniversary of the founding of Horizon, one of the world's biggest premier builders of megayachts in the 40- to 160-foot class. With its entire range of efficient and powerful engines, MAN has partnered the luxury yacht builder right from the start.

Many of its customers and suppliers as well as journalists from the trade press were present at Horizon's shipyard in the Taiwanese city of Kaohsiung to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company's founding. As a partner of many years' standing, MAN was also among those offering congratulations. Peter Schedel (Sales Manager Marine) and Wolfgang Wegner (Manager of Sales Engineering Marine) from MAN Truck & Bus Nuremberg, Patrick Low Kian Peng (Director High Speed Diesel Engines) from MAN Diesel & Turbo Singapore and C.K. Huang (General Manager Hi-MAN Diesel) presented the General Manager of Horizon, John Lu, with an illustration of the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg as a mark of the successful cooperation as well as on occasion of the company's 25th anniversary. "We're celebrating not only the company's anniversary but also our outstanding cooperation with Horizon over the past quarter of a century," said Peter Schedel.

Since its founding in 1987, the parent company, Horizon Group, has already delivered over 630 yachts to its customers and is viewed as Taiwan's leading builder of luxury megayachts. Horizon is one of the world's top ten premier builders of megayachts.

MAN engines for yachts and pleasure craft

MAN builds powerful and compact high-speed diesel engines delivering from 730 to 1,800 hp (537 to 1,324 kW) for yachts and pleasure craft in the 50- to 100-foot classes. All MAN marine engines are characterised by powerful acceleration and extremely economical fuel consumption. The advantages of the V-engines in the range from 900 to 1,800 hp (662 to 1,324 kW) are above all their excellent power yield plus compact dimensions. All engines comply with international exhaust standards. The engines are shipped ready for incorporation and are optimally designed for the particular application and its operating conditions. Following installation, MAN will undertake inspection plus acceptance and commissioning of the engine. A Gold Standard certificate for engine acceptance is an extra guarantee for the boat owner.
