New MAN V8-1300 in Monte Carlo Yachts’ 66 and 70 model series

Summary

First pair of MAN V8-1300 engines delivered drive the MCY 70 Skylounge; MCY model series from 66 to 86 ft equipped with MAN engines

In the future, the latest 8-cylinder V engine from MAN Engines, the MAN V8-1300, will provide the dynamic drive of the yacht model series MCY 66 and MCY 70 from the shipyard of Monte Carlo Yachts. With this, the Italian manufacturer of luxury yachts, who is one of the leading yacht manufacturers in the world, is offering engines from MAN Engines with power ratings between 1,000 and 1,900 hp (735 to 1,397 kW) in all Monte Carlo Yachts in the classes of 66 to 86 ft (20 to 26 meters). This means the MCY 66, MCY 70, MCY 76, MCY 80, and MCY 86 model series are equipped with practically the complete range of MAN V8 and V12 engines. Fabrizio Iarrera, Managing Director of Monte Carlo Yachts, feels the reasons for expanding the collaboration between Monte Carlo Yachts and MAN Engines are above all in the high quality standards of both companies: “Monte Carlo Yachts is a specialist in the production of luxury yachts at the highest level. These are characterized by outstanding quality with elegant Italian interior design, along with the technical features. For this reason, we are continuing the close collaboration with the internationally renowned top brand MAN Engines.”

The MAN V8-1300 is an 8-cylinder V engine with 16.2-liter capacity and a maximum power of 1,300 hp (956 kW). Thanks to the power - which is increased by 100 hp (74 kW) - and the retention of the same compact installation dimensions and the same low weight as the V8-1200 variant, the V8-1300 impresses with its extremely high power density of 59 kW per liter capacity.

The MCY 70 Skylounge with the first MAN V8-1300 engine pair delivered by MAN Engines will celebrate its international debut at the Miami Yacht Show 2020, from February 13-17. After its launch there, the luxury yacht will be sailing around Las Americas. MAN Engines will also be at the trade show at stand 241A. There, interested parties will be able to see the MAN V12-2000, currently the most powerful engine in the MAN Engines range with its 2000 hp (1,471 kW). This celebrated its premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2018 at the same time as the MAN V8-1300.
